Jane B. Singer is the Johnston Press Chair in Digital Journalism at the University of Central Lancashire, UK. Her research explores digital journalism, including changing roles, perceptions, and practices. A former print and online journalist, Jane serves on the editorial boards of several academic journals and is president of Kappa Tau Alpha, the national US journalism honor society. She is on leave from the University of Iowa School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

Stephen D. Reese is Jesse H. Jones Professor of Journalism and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the College of Communication at the University of Texas. He is co-author of Mediating the Message: Theories of Influence on Mass Media Content, editor of Framing Public Life: Perspectives on Media and Our Understanding of the Social World, and area editor for “Media Production & Content” in the International Encyclopedia of Communication.

Leysia Palen is Assistant Professor of Computer Science and faculty affiliate of the Institute of Cognitive Science and the Alliance for Technology, Learning and Society (ATLAS) Institute at the University of Colorado at Boulder. She directs the ConnectivIT Lab, which researches human computer interaction (HCI) and computer-supported cooperative work (CSCW). Her work focuses on the social implications of technology use, including safety-critical systems, personal technology such as mobile telephony and texting, and crisis informatics.
